SW548 - 1796 british infantry officer sword - 160€

After a number of attempts the British Army finally standardized the sword carried by Infantry officers with a specific pattern. This sword was quickly adopted and was universal amongst line infantry officers by 1800. Even though regulations stated the size of blade, there were numerous deviations. Some blades of surviving originals have an almost rapier type blade. The original used in the manufacture of this reproduction, along with the number of other examples studied, had a blade Length of 31 1/2 inches and one inch in width at the shoulder. The blade is engraved with the royal cypher along with various foliage and trophies. Historically there appears to be no set approach to the choice of engraved objects on the blade from one sword to another.

SW554 - 1803 Pattern British Infantry Sword (1803 -1821) - 160

While the regular pattern 1796 Infantry straight sabre had some cut and thrust functionality to it, it was completely inadequate for the Grenadier, Light Infantry and Rifle officers of the British Army, whose duties took them away from the safety of regular Infantry line formations. In the late 1790s unofficial curved bladed Infantry sabres started popping up in regiments. These sabres came in many shapes and sizes and in 1803 the army officials took steps to standardize this weapon.

SW549 - Horse Guard 1832 saber - 175€

The royal horse guard, initially raised as a cuirassier regiment, was one of the most famous figthing units of the british army at the beginning of the 19th cent, and took part as such in most of the napoleonic campaigns.

In the height of decadence in British military fashion, the Royal Horse Guards took sword ornamentation to a whole new level with this sword pattern. Like in other dress regulation items at this time, European influences are prevalent throughout its construction from the French pommel and back strap to the Germanic-like guard and well-etched 99cm blade.
