EEC hand made pieces - high quality level
All the following helmets are EEC made. Steel is 1.5/2.0mm thick, leather are natural ones, 2/4mm thick, and the helmets have an internal padding. Standart size (58/61). All these pieces may be done on measurement. If you need another kind of helmet, feel free to ask, we would be glad to have it made for you.

HL250 - Viking helmet - Xth century - 299€ -

Made after an helmet found in Gjermundbu, in a warrior's grave. The holed leather band may be used to fix a chainmail neckguard..

HL252 - Norman helmet - IXth-XIIth century - 240€ -

With its typical noseguard, this helmet remind us immediately the norman warriors, as depicted on the Bayeux tapestry. It was probably the most used head gear of the first part of the middle age.

HL253 - Norman calotte - around 1180/1220 - 250€ -

The end of the 12th century see the helmet protection evolve : the noseguard become a full metal plate, holed to allow the warrior to breathe and see. It will evolve again, the next stage being the great Helms (see below).

HL257 - Knights templar great Helm – middle XIIIth century - 270€ -

During the XIIIth century, the visor of the norman calotte was considered not enough a protection, and the back of the neck soon becalme enclosed in the helmet. The brass decorative cross of this helmet immediately reminds the templar knights.

HL254 - Great Helmet – second half of the XIIIth century- 260€ -

On this much more simple helmet, the brass cross was replaced by an iron one. The top of the hat is now conical. At this time, most of the helmets were painted, remebering the knigth's armories.

HL258 - Kettle hat - XIIIth - XVth century - 180€ - Pictures

The kettle hat was a simple bowl with a big rand. He was particularly used by archers and sappers, for it allowed the head to move freely, gave a good protection against missiles coming from the top, and did not hinder eyesight.It will evolve later to become the Morion.

HL260 - Bacinet - End of the XIVth century - 350€ -

When plate armor come into use, a new kind of helmet appears, the bacinet. The visor is mobile, to allow the knigth to see and breathe easily when not fighting. The bottom front plate is articulated, too, to allow the helmet to be put on the head.

The barbute is a very practical helmet, and was often covered with at thick velvet fabric.

This very simple helmet has its protection increased by these two strange discs, intended to deflect lateral blows.

A very simple barbute, with a gothic front plate. Such helmets were used by bowmen during the 15th century.

HL269 - Visored sallet - 350€ - Pictures


Such helmets were made to offer a maximum protection to the soldier, and were usez either by fottmen or horsemen. The visor comes up when the warrior isn't in the middle of the fight, to allow better vision and breathing. The neckguard is fully articulated.

The shape of the bowl, as the neckguard, allows the weraer to move freely, and to look up easily. This indicates a bowman helmet, 15th century.

HL267 - Italian Barbute - 280€ -

Barbutes appear in Italy, during the 14th century. This one is decorated with embossed brass plates, with a vegetal pattern.



HL273 - Tournament 15th cent helmet - 249€ -

Also called frog helmet, due to its shape, intended to let the opponent spear slide away on it, this is a magnificent reproduction of a 15th cent tournament helmet. It was normally fixed on the body armor of th knigth, to avoid him to sustain
the hit's stress on his neck.

Made of 1.6mm thick steel plates, comes with its internal padding.

Serial producted items, standart quality
The following helmets are ideal for someone who wants a nice piece at a nice price. Of course, they are not hand made in the EEC, but tue quality-price ratio is fairly good ! Steel is 1.5mm thick (or 2mm if specified). Standart size (58/61).



HL225 - Sutton Hoo helmet - 235€ - Pictures

Discovered in 1938 at the Sutton Hoo excavation site in England, in an Anglo-Saxon ship burial. Dating from the early 7th century, the helmet is believed to have belonged to King Raedwald, who died in 624 C.E. and is a great archeological importance.

This reconstruction illustrates admirably the skill and decorative talent of the armours of the period.

HL233 - Coppergate Helmet - 154€ -

Found in 1982 during excavations in the old walled city of York, this anglo saxon helmet is of great archeological importance, for it clearly shows the skill of the craftsmen of this pre-medieval era. The inscription on the crest is an invocation from the elmet's owner Oshere to the holy Trinity.

Made of 2mm thick still with brass brackets and parts. Comes with its chainmail cap.

These helmets, persian influenced, appears at the end of the roman empire and remain in use till the medieval time. They were especially apprecied by germanic warriors.

At the end of the 12th cent, the helmets loose their round shape, and becomes cylinders shaped. This one also has a face plate, and is an ancestor of the great helms of the 13th cent.

At the end of the XIIth century, the nose guard becomes a full plate, to increase face protection. Soon, the plate comes around the helmet, as in our copy, to guard the neck.

The great helm evolves during the XIIIth century, the top becoming conical to allow sword hits to be more easily deflected.

When plate armor come into use, a new kind of helmet appears, the bacinet. The visor is mobile, to allow the knigth to see and breathe easily when not fighting. The bottom front plate is articulated, too, to allow the helmet to be put on the head. The shape of the visor was conceived to deflect lance thrusts.

Sold with its attached chainmail collar.

The sallet, coming from Germany, will be the most used helmet at the end of the 15th cent. This one has a moving visor, and also an articulated neck guard, allowing the head to move freely.

Called Armet, this helmet follows the bacinet and is certainly the last medieval helmet.It adopts the shape of the heas and the neck, and is fully articulated to allow it to be weared.

Our helmet stand may well be the answer you are looking for to organize your collection... And it has been conceived to be sent with an helmet, for it comes in three separated parts. This way, the shipping costs remain the same...

Heigth 32cm, basis diameter 20cm. A screw is needed to fix the axis on the basis. You may use another one for the top, but it is usually not needed. Screws come along with the stand.
