It spread then in all europeans armies, and was used either by light cavalry, infantry, musketmen. Our is already a sophisticated one, with cheekguards, brass brackets, and a tube used to stick feathers at the back. Weigth 2.2kg. 22cm long, 19cm wide (inner sizes). 1.8mm iron sheets. HL411 - Persian helmet - XVIth century - 420€ - Pictures This typical shape
reminds us of the ottoman empire. the neckguard and the cheekguars are
made of several pieces, hold in place by iron wires, in an oriental
fashion, which will remain until the 19th century. |
| Following the bacinet, these closed helmets appear during the 16th century. This is the last medieval helmt, protecting neck and head. This one has a mobile visor made of two pieces, to allow the wearer to breathe more easily when not fighting. It is kept closed by a hook. the device at the back was used to fix feathers. |
